Koi Managerie

2.5 by 3.5 ACEO, sometimes I think these little cards can be as difficult as a larger painting.

I mean....these cards are so small and in a such a little space, you find you need to be very careful not to mess up something since there isn't much room.

Cold winter nights aceo

I haven't really been feeling well and I thought I might try to get my creativity back by painting a few ACEO's .... they can be relaxing just because there isn't any pressure to have them turn out.. its funny how I hate to waste paper but with ACEO's I can paint a million of them... I guess cause their small, I feel free to really do anything.

Aceo "Asian Influence"

This little painting was painted in between my commissions. They are rather tedious so its nice just to paint for painting sake. I love the rich thick color of oil sometimes.
Watercolor will always be my favorite but sometimes its nice to just paint without too much forethought.
I'm painting a child's portrait right now and if you want to check it out go to http://h20color.wordpress.com

Ancient Ritual 119

2.5 by 3.5 inches... the same size as a baseball card.
Its difficult for me to discuss these paintings because they are rather abstract in nature. The concept is simple, its the study of ritual and what role it plays in our lives and in our culture.
I love these colors and find more colorful work appearing in my paintings during the spring months.
I’ve had a number of folks write to me telling me their ideas of what they see in these paintings and I find it absolutely amazing …. All the stories people have as to what is going on in these paintings. This is another reason I don’t talk about what I see going on in them. I like the viewer to decide.

I closed down my ebay store today, its too difficult to be selling in so many places. You end of spending too much time on the computer. I want to paint not sit around writing copy and uploading photos. I’ll open it during the Winter months when things are slower.

River View ACEO

River View

It was warm this morning and I decided to take the dogs to the park so they could get out and hopefully get rid of their cabin fever. They loved it. Missy jumped into the creek and pretty much got wet and muddy up to her chest ( and I just sent them to the groomer) Glock, who is a lab and doesn't like water, hung around on the muddy bank getting even more dirty than Missy. Thank goodness for Sam he is such a good dog, staying clean and still having a great time. He ran up and down the trails and his tail was not only wagging but it was going in circles. What does that mean? I guess you can say he was overjoyed. He wore a big doggy grin for the whole hour. When we got back to the house, I had to clean up the younger two which takes several towels and a little doggie air freshener. I wish they made frebreeze for dogs, they would sell a million bottles the first week.

I painted this ACEO... 2.5 by 3.5 and watercolor on gessoed paper, it's $15.00. I love the lake and I painted this little card because I love water scenes.

Ancient Ritual 30 ACEO

Ancient Ritual

This is an ACEO 2.5 by 3.5 it is for sale for 15.00

Tonight I'm starting to paint my 33 by 33 inch Koi painting. So I may or may not post tomorrow. All week I have been drawing value studies to determine the placement of the fish and the funny thing about this is...... that I may not use any of them once I begin. I have been thinking about the family, the kids and the parents and how they interact. I 'm hoping I can put something of them into the piece.

Luna light

This little aceo is $12.00 plus $1.50 shipping and handling. I painted it last night after getting back from the hospital. 2.5 by 3.5 I think it looks like the ocean when the full moon is making the waves glow… I’ve seen this many times and its beautiful.

Art had a chest tube planted into his lever to drain off the fluid which was not dissipating as anticipated. They drained off more than two liters and it will hopefully come out on Friday.

Today we spent the whole day at the Hospital and poor Art (my husband) underwent a procedure to have a filter removed from his aorta artery but it would not come out so they will leave it in there for the rest of his life. He had to endure a procedure really for nothing. Now he has a hole in his neck where they went in for the procedure and its swollen and red. Poor guy, he is rather despondent over the whole day’s events.

"Koi hide and seek" an ACEO

$13.00 + 1.5 watercolor on paper 2.5 by 3.5

Today was one of those days…. I was so very busy and as luck would have it I also needed to get paintings packaged for shipment. This is a good thing but it’s time consuming, and the record keeping can be tedious. Being an artist is a business too and you have to have records for all your pieces …like where they’re stored or their location in galleries, flat files or in customer’s homes. You have to update these records and sometimes I have to go into town to pick up paintings that sold on the Internet that may be in a gallery. This can be sticky but I usually just substitute one painting for another.
In a perfect world I try to have one day a week to do prep work and organize things but lately, things have been hectic and I’ve let my organization slip a bit.

This little ACEO is one of the paintings I did a couple of days ago when I painted my Koi six pack.

Of course I painted today but I worked on a larger painting and will continue to work on it this week for an upcoming show. All artists have days where they have to do organizational chores or prep work. My studio was in a shambles, piles of mats sitting on top of art books, next to packing materials and a mountains of paintings waiting to be stored. On top of all this my cat was sleeping right in the middle of it all. Leave it to a cat to find a little hidey hole to sleep in in a huge mess.

My husband say I need an intern, like on Seinfeld when Kramer had that intern do his laundry and make appointments for his BS company Kramerica. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just do the art and someone else could do the prep work, and the packaging, and of course clean up the mess afterwards.

Koi Buddies watercolor ACEO

koi friends
2.5 by 3.5

This artist trading card is a bit out of focus and I apologise... these small works of art are difficult to photograph.

When I went to the Koi show on Sunday, these two Koi kept following me around the tank, it seems the're pets and someone has been hand feeding them. I felt bad I couldn't give them a snack but the way their eyes followed me was amusing.
