This abstract painting a day is 11 by 15 " and is a painting in mixed media on gessoed watercolor paper $200.00..
The gesso gives it a bit of texture.
I think it fits today's date and this months theme. If you really look you can get the feeling of water drops.


Wow, it feels great to actually have my painting uploaded and on line before midnight. I've been burning the candle at both ends lately and I may actually get some sleep tonight!

Ancient Ritual 24.... a painting a day

This 4 by 6 piece is another in my abstract series exploring ritual and how we as humans mark time and the events in our lives with ritual.

Ancient Ritual 21.... 4" by 4"

If you haven't noticed I tend to paint many of my abstracts using a grid method. Sometimes I will use other methods but I find I naturally paint in a grid like manner. When an artist says they paint in a grid manner, what they mean is the way the put the paint down is very much like a grid. One section down at a time in rows both vertically and horizontally. Often the rows over lap or cross over making the piece more interesting. This piece was actually 4" by 6" and I felt there were too many focal areas, so I cropped it down to a 4 by 4 and now I feel it is more soothing yet energetic all at the same time. I love these colors. I put in the circles to break up the linear shapes. The circles were actually pulled out of the wet paint to allow the paper to show thru.

This painting was finished just minutes ago and as I wanted to get it on the blog before dark, I figure, I'll post it without a name... go to dinner, come back , & maybe something will click. Or not...
