Pine cone an ACEO
This little card was painted a few weeks back when I had so many backlogged and couldn't post all of them. This ACEO never got to be posted. Now that things are so hectic, I'm letting you see all the paintings that are stacked up here on my table.
I love pine cones I think they're a perfect little package.

Pink Magnolia
Opps I was so busy yesterday, I posted to three of my blogs but forgot this one. So sorry. You can go to http://shantimarie.wordpress.com if you want to see yesterdays painting. I have painted florals for years and nowadays I try to make them a bit more interesting. This painting with the pink and the green is exciting and I think its because its a split complimentary painting. BUT the purple just seems to make the painting. what so you think?

Koi in Sepia
This painting is 6" by 9" and is painted only with one color, Sepia. I had to get out of bed this morning at 3:30 (so I could get everything done including my painting) so I figured I would paint something a little more tonal than colorful. I think this looks like an old JapaneseInk painting or a black and white photograph.
I like it. $50.00 shantmarie@aol.com for inquiries

"Koi Tag " watercolor on Ampersand 6' by 6"
I picked up larger pieces of Ampersand (6 by 6) and thought I would try some of my Koi in the larger format.
They look very bright and the ampersand gives them a bit of texture. $50.00
They are covered with Fixative to help make them a bit more durable. They can be framed with or without glass.

Eternal Summer ACEO
It’s hot here in the south and there aren’t any Palm trees growing around here… but thinking of them reminds me of eternal summer.
I love the fronds the look shape and colors… The variety of Palms are endless and they always give you a feeling of Vacation or relaxation.
In South Carolina many palm trees grow in the state but along the coastline. Since I live in the western part of the state ( in Piedmont area) I only see them when they’ve been planted and these don’t seem to do too well. They get a bit frosted and look like a transplant that never really adjusts to its new surroundings.
I grew up in California where the various palm trees grow in people yards and in back lots long forgotten. I miss them at times but I do like the Pine trees and I guess its a pretty good trade. Pine trees have a scent at least. These last few days have been hectic and yet I have put my daily painting up everyday…sometimes as late as midnight, but I’ve put them up all the same and I hope you understand if some of theses paintings may be less than detailed. I have been painting a daily painting since last August and many of the paintings do not represent my BEST work but they show that I have painted each day. This was the commitment and I’m trying to fulfill that commitment.
If you stop by you can at least see what I have completed.
This ACEO is slightly abstracted, its a mix of realism and various shapes. I like this combination, not quite abstract, not 100%realistic…. but a mixture of the two.
The Cicadas are out tonight in full force and there is a gentle rain falling. The rain doesn’t seem to stop their call or song which ever it is. The sound migrates thru the air growing ever louder as one starts and the others chime in till they reach a crescendo of sound…then the sound dies down, slowly dwindling to almost quiet, till another one starts and the whole thing starts up again. Its a nightly ritual here in July and August. One day I hope you may visit the south and hear their song for yourself. Its truly unique.

Boyd's Sunflowers an ACEO and a field trip
I painted four different paintings today at Boyd's farm. All are of his Sunflowers and the fields sourrounding his home. This little card I did as a warm up. I was suffering from sensory overload. If anyone wants sunflower pictures let me know I took 86 photos. The Color, The Bees, The birds, The Frogs? Yes frogs, there was a pond near me and they kept talking or croking all day long. Wonderful experience I may go back next week when the seeds are actually in the subnflowers so I can get some pics of birds. I get some of the photos up ( on the blog) tonight so you can see some of them.

Ancient Ritual Series. # 20 a painting a day
This is 4" by 6" and is for sale for 40.00 I love this series and continue to paint more of these little abstract. In fact I have painted a number which have not actually been on my blog. So there are a few out there that have not been seen, maybe if I don't have anything to put up on my blog I'll put one of them up.
I can't tell you enough how great it is to paint in a series. As an artist you learn so much and you can really respond to the paintings while working.
Try it, even if its only three paintings, I think you'll enjoy it.

Summer Berries
This watercolor on paper is four inches by five inches. $30.00 The berries grow on the edge of the woods everywhere and are getting ripe with all this warm weather.
I went to "the body" if you haven't seen this show, its very interesting and of course educational. I loved the horse with the rider.
If you haven't heard about this show...Its actual human bodies that have the skin removed and they are infused in plastic resin. This preserves the bodies allowing the viewer to look at each organ and each muscle or bone. I've always been interested in medical things and found it fascinating.
